7 Airbnb Must-Sees in Mexico

Starting to plan that Mexican vacation? Get a leg up on accommodation with these 7 Airbnb Must-Sees in Mexico.

Modern Above the Trees – Sayulita

Puerto Vallarta is an underappreciated destination in Mexico but has been gaining in popularity by Americans for the last decade.  Fortunately, the charm of the city remains, but the large retirement condominiums targeted at US expats, and increased resorts has given the in-the-know folks reason to sneak up the coast a little farther to Sayulita.  This unique condo located about one hour from the PV airport boasts incredible views of the ocean as it sits just above the treeline, maximizing your optical pleasure for your upcoming travels. To book and see more pics go to Serene Viewcation

Luxury in the Jungle – Tulum

Let’s skip to the other side of the country and the Mayan Riviera.  Not Cancun, not Playa Del Carmen, we’re talking about the lesser known Tulum which is the perfect coastal town to experience Mexican culture while having close access to beaches, cenotes, Mayan ruins, and water adventure parks.  This listing is located just outside of the noisy town (so you can get some sleep) and in the tropical jungle.  You’ll be living in luxury with the updated décor while enjoying nature all around you in window-surrounded interior and, let’s not forget, the plunge pool on the roof overlooking the jungle canopy.  Get some tequila and sip it while watching the sunset and listening to the singing birds every evening. To book and see more pics go to Just Like Tarzan

Under The Sea (but actually above it) – Isla Mujeres

Where Cancun is filled with Spring Breakers and resorts, a short trip off the coast is Isla Mujeres and it’s full of, well, not those things, which is probably preferred.  While you’ll love the quaint and hospitable escape of Isla Mujeres the real draw here is going to be your habitación for the trip: a collection of seashells.  It’s not just a cute (and slightly absurd) outside architectural design choice, the inside will make you feel like the happiest hermit in the world.  Be sure to spend some time outdoors, however, because this crazy rental includes a private (and equally oddly-shaped) pool which overlooks the ocean. To book and see more pics go to Happy to Be Crabby

Private Beach? Say No More – Punta de Mita

Not far from the aforementioned Sayulita is Punta de Mita.  Punta de Mita is a great location for watching humpback whales and other marine life but the convenience of its quiet location is what you’ll particularly enjoy as you can see the surf town of Sayulita just 15 minutes away, or have a night out in Puerto Vallarta 45 minutes away.  With this rental, however, you’ll likely be drawn to your own private beach only steps away.  Not in the mood to get sandy?  No problem, just observe your beautiful private beach and ocean horizon from your private infinity pool.  That’s not it, this 5-bedroom home is also housing a pool table, darts, and gorgeous décor you’ll likely stay here your entire vacation. To book and see more pics go to My Very Own Beach

Coastal Luxury – Punta de Mita

Alright, we’re cheating by staying in this area again but just look at this pad and try to imagine our list without it!  You’ll have to save a few bucks for this luxurious treehouse getaway as the base rate is just above $2K/night.  But that rich uncle of yours might fork it over if he can join in one of the four tastefully decorated bedrooms.  With retractable windows, nearly every room in this home can be completely open to the undeniably freeing elements with sea breeze that blows through your hair as the ocean is only steps from this timber hideaway.  For living like this, a splurge may be in order. To book and see more pics go to Robinson Crusoe’s Dream

Tequila in Tequila – Amatitán

This place is beautiful, but the two reasons it made it to this list are:  1. It’s located in Tequila, Mexico (where your favorite Mexican liquor is made); and, 2. The extra experience options they offer.  We at Spur Experiences (and you, if you’re reading this) are suckers for fun and unique experiences, so we got excited when we found this house offering activities such as horseback riding in the agave fields, tequila appreciation tastings, and hiking a volcano.  You can even visit the family tequila cellars and blend your own tequila!  Sit back, relax, and sip in your creation. To book and see more pics go to Salt and Lime, Please
Book these places quickly as they’re sure to fill up this summer. ¡Viva aventura!
